Overview

Keyfactor, a provider of trust infrastructure for AI and machines that helps large enterprises and government agencies manage cryptographic identities, is hiring a Student QA Engineer on a working student basis in Aachen. The student supports the Engineering and Quality Assurance teams in checking the quality, reliability and correctness of security and PKI-based products. The focus is on designing test cases, running manual tests and understanding the product, with room to explore test automation as familiarity grows.

What you will do

Responsibilities include reviewing product features, technical requirements and user workflows, and designing, documenting and maintaining structured, traceable test cases. The student runs manual tests and records results, defects and observations, works with development and product teams to clarify expected behaviour and acceptance criteria, and identifies tests suitable for later automation. Other duties are supporting automated tests written in TypeScript and related tools, maintaining QA documentation and test reports, helping with hardware interaction and test environment setup, supporting maintenance of the Operational and Automation Backend, and taking part in testing PKI and security workflows.

Who can apply

Candidates must be enrolled in a degree programme in computer science, software engineering, IT security or a related field.

Requirements

Applicants need an understanding of basic software testing principles, strong attention to detail, a structured working style, clear documentation habits, and proficiency in written and spoken English. Familiarity with a programming or scripting language, with TypeScript an advantage, interest in cybersecurity, PKI or cryptography, basic experience with test management or defect tracking tools, and basic knowledge of automation tools such as Jenkins are preferred.

What you get

Working time is up to 19 hours per week during the academic term, with the main in-office days on Wednesday and Thursday in Aachen, and flexibility is arranged around academic commitments. Pay depends on experience. Benefits mentioned include a company-wide day off on the second Friday of most months, wellbeing resources and volunteer days.
