Software Engineer, Intern (Summer 2027)
Overview
Sentry, the application monitoring company trusted by more than 200,000 organizations, is offering a software engineering internship for summer 2027. The position is in the Engineering department, with the team based in Vienna, Austria. Interns write real code on real projects that ship to production and are matched with one of the SDK, Product or Ingest teams according to their interests and experience.
What you will do
The internship lasts at least 12 weeks and is run as a hybrid programme. Interns design, develop and ship a programming solution that delivers value to customers. Past interns have, for example, shipped async support for the Python SDK and a faster AWS Lambda extension. Ingest work involves the pipelines, including the open-source Relay and Symbolicator, that process millions of events every minute. Each intern is paired with a manager and a dedicated team mentor, receives regular feedback and coaching, can join social events, and finishes with a final presentation to the team.
Requirements
Applicants should be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Computer Science or a related field, with at least one previous internship or comparable hands-on experience. The role calls for solid knowledge of algorithms and data structures, proficiency in Python, JavaScript or a similar dynamic language, comfort with GitHub workflows such as branching, pull requests and code review, and experience working on a team engineering project, whether in class, open source or at work. Candidates must be able to start in summer 2027 and relocate to Vienna for the duration.
What you get
Pay ranges from 2,800 to 3,285 euros per month. Sentry helps interns get to Vienna and covers housing, and the company benefits and temporary relocation support apply.

- This is a 12+ week hybrid technical internship that treats you like a full-time Sentry engineer — not just "an intern." You'll be paired with a manager and a dedicated team mentor, get access to social events, and wrap up the program with a final presentation to the Sentry team.
- Don't just take our word for it — hear it from the people who lived it. Our intern blog is full of stories from past Sentaurs about the features they shipped and the teams they joined, and more than a few of them liked it enough to come back as full-time new grads.
