Internship - Radiation Testing of Electronic Components and Test Automation
Overview
The Exploration Company, which builds spacecraft, is offering an internship in radiation testing of electronic components and test automation. The placement is in the Engineering department in Munich, Germany. The intern takes part in qualifying the electronic parts that will make up the Nyx avionics system, helping to show that components can withstand the radiation environment of space.
What you will do
Day-to-day work includes assembling printed circuit boards used for radiation testing, testing those boards and debugging the circuits in the laboratory, and soldering or adapting parts when needed. The intern also automates the radiation test setups and the generation of test reports, and writes clear reports on how radiation affects electronic circuits. When required, the role includes joining a test campaign at a particle accelerator facility.
Requirements
The company looks for a bachelor's or master's degree in electronic science or engineering, physics or embedded systems design. Applicants should have hands-on experience with soldering and debugging electronic circuits, basic knowledge of verification and validation for avionics and embedded software, and experience using Python for test automation, device control and data visualization. Knowledge of digital and analog electronic design is expected. Experience with Altium Designer and LTSPICE, or similar tools, and a basic understanding of space avionics are an advantage.
What you get
The company describes a working culture that is agile, open and collaborative, with fast decision-making and transparency about risks and obstacles. Relocation assistance, including visa sponsorship where applicable, is available for people willing to move. Offers depend on a background check that varies with the country, role and project.
