Overview

Monzo, the UK digital bank, is offering a Software Engineering internship for summer 2027 in London. Monzo has more than 500 engineers building its in-house banking platform, covering customer-facing products as well as infrastructure, security, payments, finance, customer operations, financial crime and data. Interns are matched with a team and a mentor and spend the summer designing and shipping a solution to a real problem for customers.

What you will do

Interns write, test and ship code for new customer features, review colleagues' code, work with product managers, designers and data analysts, learn about new technologies and engineering practices, and seek feedback to speed up their learning. The main technologies are Go for application code, Cassandra for storage, Kafka for messaging, Kubernetes and Docker for running services, AWS and GCP for infrastructure, React for web apps, Kotlin for Android and Swift for iOS.

Who can apply

Candidates should be completing a degree in Computer Science or another technical field, with exposure to programming, and graduating in 2028. They should enjoy learning new technologies and solving problems, be available full time for at least 12 weeks between June and September 2027, with two June start dates to choose from, and hold unrestricted right to work in the UK for the whole internship without needing visa sponsorship for a permanent role. Hybrid work from the London office is expected.

What you get

Pay is 42,500 pounds pro rata. The role is hybrid with two days a week in the office, flexible full-time hours, a high-specification laptop, knowledge-sharing sessions, socials and lunch twice a week.

Key dates

Applications close on 1 November 2026, and offers are made on a rolling basis. The process has three steps: an application with short questions, a programming and problem-solving exercise, and final interviews with the engineering team.
