Overview

Eggai is opening EggAI Labs in Tübingen to test new artificial intelligence capabilities, identify effective solutions, and build assets that support internal teams and clients. As part of the first cohort of AI Builders, working students will join a small peer group and collaborate directly with engineering, product, and project leads, as well as the company Chief AI Officer. The primary focus of the role is EvalOps, exploring methods and tools to check whether domain-specific AI systems meet behavioral requirements by addressing challenges such as nondeterminism, ground-truth curation, metric design, latency, and costs. Participants will take an open EvalOps problem from investigation through to a working prototype.

Who can apply

Candidates must be currently pursuing a Master’s degree in relevant academic fields including Computer Science, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Physics, Bioinformatics, Computational Neuroscience, Medical Informatics, Quantitative Data Science, Cognitive Science, or other disciplines provided they demonstrate strong problem-solving and practical technical ability. Applicants must be able to write code, turn ideas into working and tested software, communicate fluently in English, and work in person from Tübingen while living within commuting distance.

What you get

Participants receive competitive compensation, including recognition for exceptional contributions, alongside a potential path to a full-time role at Eggai after graduation. The position provides industry insight into enterprise artificial intelligence systems, meaningful ownership over an EvalOps problem, close mentorship from leadership, room to develop strengths alongside peers, and a voice in shaping the direction of the lab.

Requirements

Applicants are required to submit a CV alongside a short cover letter explaining their choices, motivations, and reasons for pursuing the role. Candidates must provide appropriate evidence of excellence, which may include academic results, research, publications, or practical projects they have built. The role requires problem obsession, initiative and follow-through, evidence of making things work, independent judgment, and collaborative generosity.

How to apply

Applications must include a CV and a short cover letter detailing the applicant's motivations and background.
