Overview

Sunflower Labs GmbH seeks a robotics diagnostics engineer to investigate complex system issues in an autonomous drone-in-a-box system. The role bridges support and engineering by transforming field reports into clear explanations, actionable fix recommendations, and practical mitigations through a combination of log analysis, code examination, hands-on experiments, and bench setups.

Who can apply

Applicants require a degree in computer science, robotics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Candidates need experience investigating complex software failures using logs, source code, and systematic root-cause analysis, alongside a practical approach to reproducing intermittent issues and designing experiments on engineering systems, bench setups, or simulators. Strong written and verbal communication skills, curiosity, persistence, and a sense of ownership are necessary. Experience with drones, robotics, and embedded software serves as a bonus.

What you get

The position offers an indefinite contract for an on-site employee located in Stallikon, based at the Zurich office. Visa sponsorship may be offered for suitable candidates.

Requirements

The role requires owning investigations from new bug reports to actionable findings, collaborating with support to capture symptoms, operating conditions, and logs, and analyzing logs and source code to develop and test hypotheses. Responsibilities include assessing issue severity regarding safety impact, system availability, and affected versions, escalating critical findings promptly, and providing engineering with evidence, reproduction steps, fix recommendations, and verification help. Additional duties involve recommending and validating workarounds and mitigations with engineering while providing support with clear guidance on their use, limitations, and operational implications.
