Overview

The Fortis Fellowship 2027 is a five-month international leadership development programme designed for individuals from humble beginnings who want to make a positive impact on society. Serving as the entry pathway for new members joining the Fortis Society, the programme unites emerging leaders from different professional sectors and geographical backgrounds. The fellowship runs from January to June 2027, combining online learning and mentorship with in-person events.

Who can apply

The programme welcomes applicants worldwide across all career stages and sectors, including education, healthcare, government, the arts, business, finance, law, and entrepreneurship. Candidates are evaluated based on four pillars: facing personal, financial, or structural barriers from humble beginnings, demonstrating an altruistic focus that benefits others, displaying large-scale ambition with evidence of steps already taken, and showing generosity through a willingness to support peers. There is no formal degree requirement, no application fee, and no institutional nomination needed.

What you get

Selected participants receive individual mentorship paired with a Fortis Society member, professional development through workshops and training sessions, and international networking opportunities across sectors and continents. The programme also provides practical learning through projects and collaborative activities. The fellowship is funded for cohort activities and concludes with four full days of in-person events in Medellín, Colombia, in June 2027, which includes two days of cohort programming followed by the Fortis Summit. Successful participants attain lifelong membership in the Fortis Society.

Requirements

Applicants must submit a resume or portfolio, three written short-answer responses, and a two-minute personal introduction video recorded on a mobile phone or laptop. Shortlisted candidates are required to attend a virtual interview with the recruitment committee. The time commitment for online activities and mentorship is approximately two to four hours per month.

Key dates

The application deadline is 8 November 2026. Virtual interviews for shortlisted candidates take place in November and December 2026. Membership decisions are communicated by the end of January 2027, with online activities and mentorship beginning between January and June 2027, followed by the Medellín Summit in June 2027.
