The Yenching Academy Fellowship at Peking University is a fully funded graduate programme offering an interdisciplinary Master’s degree focused on China. Who can apply
The fellowship welcomes non-Chinese citizens holding a valid passport who hold a Bachelor’s degree in any academic field or are in their final year of undergraduate study with graduation expected before enrolment in 2027. Applicants formerly holding citizenship in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, or Taiwan and subsequently acquiring foreign nationality must provide documentation meeting Peking University’s international student regulations. Candidates must also demonstrate an outstanding academic record, leadership potential, community engagement, and English language proficiency. Students and alumni from designated partner universities must complete an internal nomination or pre-selection process through their home institution prior to applying.

Requirements
Applicants must submit an online application in English containing a personal statement of 750 words or less, a statement of research interest of up to 1,500 words excluding citations, a curriculum vitae, official academic transcripts, a degree certificate or certificate of enrolment, and two academic recommendation letters from professors or associate professors in the intended field of study. Applicants must also satisfy English language proficiency requirements through accepted test scores such as an IELTS Academic score of 7.0, TOEFL iBT score of 100, Cambridge English Advanced score of 185, CET-6 score of 600, or a pass level of good or above on the TEM-4, unless they are native English speakers or have completed a higher degree taught entirely in English.

For the 2027 cohort, applications for international candidates close on 30 November 2026 at 9:00 AM Beijing Time. English proficiency results must have been obtained after 1 September 2025.
