Overview
The Stanton Nuclear Security Fellows Program provides an opportunity for emerging scholars and thought leaders to pursue independent, interdisciplinary research focused on nuclear security challenges. Hosted by the Hertie School’s Centre for International Security in Berlin, Germany, and funded by the Stanton Foundation, the programme aims to foster research that informs relevant policy debates and deepens understanding of international security issues. Up to two fellowships are awarded each year for a one-year duration, starting in September 2027 for the 2027/2028 academic year.

Requirements
Applicants must demonstrate a strong interest in nuclear security and the potential to produce policy-relevant research. The required application materials consist of a current curriculum vitae detailing academic and professional achievements, a personal statement explaining research interests and motivation, two letters of recommendation addressing research capabilities, and a detailed project proposal outlining the research topic, objectives, methodology, and expected contribution. Candidates may also be required to submit official undergraduate and graduate academic transcripts from all attended institutions beyond high school.
