France Excellence Eiffel Scholarship 2027: Monthly Funding of Up to €2,100 for International Master’s and PhD Students
Overview
The France Excellence Eiffel Scholarship Programme 2027 is a financial support initiative established by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and administered through Campus France. Designed to attract outstanding international students to French higher education institutions, the programme prepares future leaders in the public and private sectors by supporting postgraduate studies in priority academic fields. Eligible study levels include Master's degrees, engineering degrees, and joint doctoral programmes.
Who can apply
The scholarship is intended for exceptional international candidates who are seeking admission to eligible postgraduate programmes in France. A foundational rule of the programme is that students cannot apply directly; instead, applicants must be selected, nominated, and supported by a French higher education institution that submits the application on their behalf. The programme covers seven broad academic areas distributed across science and technology, as well as humanities and social sciences.
What you get
Successful candidates receive financial support and mobility services. Master's students receive a monthly allowance of €1,200, while doctoral candidates receive a monthly stipend of €2,100. Additional benefits cover international and domestic transportation, insurance, accommodation search assistance, and cultural activities. The scholarship does not cover tuition fees, meaning recipients remain responsible for tuition costs and any other uncovered expenses.
Requirements
Applicants must ensure their intended degree programme falls within the eligible disciplinary areas and that their chosen French institution is willing to sponsor them. Doctoral candidates must be enrolled in an eligible joint doctoral arrangement that involves joint dissertation supervision and/or a dual degree in partnership with an overseas institution. The scholarship duration varies by study level, supporting the second year of a Master's for up to 12 months, the first year of a Master's for up to 24 months, engineering degrees for up to 36 months, and doctoral programmes for 12 to 36 months.
How to apply
Candidates must first identify and contact a French higher education institution offering a suitable programme to discuss admission requirements and internal deadlines. Prospective applicants can also seek guidance from Campus France in their home country or from the French Embassy's Cooperation and Cultural Action Department. Once an institution agrees to support the candidate, that institution must submit the application online through the dedicated Campus France application platform.
