Overview

The Swedish Institute Scholarship for Global Professionals 2027/2028 is a fully funded opportunity designed for ambitious international professionals from 34 eligible countries. The programme allows recipients to pursue eligible English-taught master’s degrees at Swedish universities while building the leadership capacity needed to drive sustainable development in their home countries. Participants also gain access to an international professional network that fosters collaboration and career growth.

Who can apply

Citizens of 34 specific countries are eligible to apply, provided they are liable to pay tuition fees at Swedish universities and demonstrate relevant work and leadership experience. The eligible countries are Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Egypt, Ethiopia, Georgia, Guatemala, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Kenya, Liberia, Malaysia, Mexico, Moldova, Morocco, Nigeria, Peru, the Philippines, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Thailand, Uganda, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, and Zambia. Public sector employees from Georgia and Belarus are excluded, and additional residence and citizenship restrictions may apply. Applicants must apply for an eligible English-taught master’s programme in governance, public health, entrepreneurship and innovation, or science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

What you get

Successful candidates receive full coverage of tuition fees, which are paid directly to the university each semester. Scholars are provided a monthly living allowance of SEK 12,000 and a one-time travel grant of SEK 15,000, though a reduced grant of SEK 10,000 applies to scholars from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine. The travel grant is omitted for students already living in Sweden. Recipients also gain membership in the SI Network for Global Professionals and subsequently join the Sweden Alumni Network. The scholarship does not cover university application fees, insurance, family member grants, programme changes, or scholarship extensions.
