PhD in Late Antique, Medieval and Early Modern Studies
Overview
The Central European University offers a four-year PhD program in Late Antique, Medieval and Early Modern Studies that is accredited in Austria and the US. The historical studies department is recognized for its interdisciplinarity, covering a chronological scope from late antiquity onward with particular strengths in Central Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean alongside research spanning from the US to central and eastern Asia. Students follow their individual research interests rather than working on faculty-led projects and are based in Vienna during their first year.
