Fulbright Scholar Program for Pakistan 2027 in the USA | Fully Funded
Overview
The Fulbright Scholar Program for Pakistan 2027 sends Pakistani scholars, professionals and artists to the United States for lecturing, research, or a combination of the two. It is fully funded and administered by the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP). Scholars spend up to 10 months at U.S. colleges or universities. While there, they are expected to share the culture and customs of their society with students, colleagues and community groups, and on returning home they are expected to pass on what they learned to their own communities. The program does not ask for an IELTS or TOEFL score, although applicants need an excellent command of English.
What you get
Selected scholars receive a research allowance, a living stipend and an airfare grant. The program can also support the travel and stay of one accompanying family member. Health insurance is included, and USEFP helps with visa processing.
Who can apply
Scholars, professionals and artists from all fields except clinical medicine may apply. Applicants must hold a PhD or terminal degree that they have had for at least two years, must be Pakistani citizens, and must live and work in Pakistan. Women and people with disabilities from AJK, KPK, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, Northern Sindh and Southern Punjab are strongly encouraged to apply.
Several groups are not eligible: dual U.S./Pakistani nationals, people with a U.S. national spouse or a U.S. national child over 18, people who have studied or been on a long-term program in the United States in the last five years, employees and dependents of USEFP or the U.S. Department of State, and people on work visas in the U.S.
How to apply
Applications are completed online, and all materials, including references, must be submitted to USEFP in the original plus one copy. Applicants should read the Application Instructions carefully after logging in. A clear, well-formed proposal is central: it should explain what the applicant wants to achieve in the United States, how the grant time will be spent, what outcomes can reasonably be expected, and how the work relates to their role in Pakistan.
At least two invitation letters from U.S. universities are needed, and these can be submitted with the application or after shortlisting. A reference letter from a professional who knows the applicant's work and character well is also required, and every question on the form must be answered.
Key dates
The application deadline is October 28, 2026.
