Overview

Washington Women in Need (WWIN) is seeking a Development and Communications Director in a leadership role. WWIN, founded in 1992, supports women across Washington State pursuing higher education and greater economic mobility. It operates as a remote organisation and values people who can work independently while communicating and collaborating well. The vacancy information provided states neither a salary nor an application deadline and does not list the full duties of the post, so the complete position description on WWIN's careers page should be read before applying.

About the organisation

WWIN provides scholarships and comprehensive support to women facing financial and systemic barriers to staying in college and completing a degree. Through its Star Scholar Program it currently supports 151 Scholars each year across 46 colleges and universities in Washington, with renewable scholarships of up to 5,000 dollars annually toward a first bachelor's degree. Scholars can also use emergency resiliency funding, career coaching, individualised support and a statewide community of Scholars and alumnae. More than 600 Scholars and alumnae have been supported since the founding. WWIN reports that 72% of its Star Scholars are first-generation college students, 65% are women of colour, about 65% are 25 or older, and nearly half are parents, including 37% who are single mothers.

Who can apply

The title points to responsibility across fundraising and communications, so experience in nonprofit development, donor engagement, strategic communications and mission-focused storytelling may be relevant. WWIN looks for colleagues who care about educational equity and are curious, collaborative, adaptable, accountable and committed to professional growth. It welcomes candidates from a range of professional and educational backgrounds, and encourages people from historically underrepresented communities and those whose experiences align with its mission to apply.

How to apply

Review the full Development and Communications Director position description on the WWIN careers page, which contains the application requirements, and make sure your application shows relevant experience and a clear connection to WWIN's mission and values.
