Overview
World Vision International is recruiting a Director, Strategic Research and Evidence (job requisition JR51998). World Vision is a Christian humanitarian organisation working in nearly 100 countries on child and community wellbeing and poverty. The director leads its applied research, evidence synthesis and learning translation function, helping the organisation generate and use evidence to improve programmes, influence policy, support fundraising and inform senior leaders.
What the role involves
Key duties include leading secondary analysis of World Vision's household dataset of more than 400,000 households, setting standards for interpreting findings, and developing a portfolio of commissioned studies with research questions, protocols, analysis plans and ethics pathways. The role works with methods such as mixed-methods, longitudinal, comparative and quasi-experimental research, across topics including health, nutrition, WASH, livelihoods, child protection, climate resilience and faith and development. It also builds partnerships with universities, research institutions, donors and foundations, and turns findings into briefs, programme recommendations and donor narratives.
Who can apply
The post is senior. Applicants should generally have a Master's degree in a field such as statistics, epidemiology, public health, data science, economics, social sciences, international development, evaluation or implementation science, plus at least 12 years of progressive experience in applied research, evidence synthesis or evaluation. Experience leading multi-country research portfolios and using tools such as R, Python, Stata or SPSS is expected. A PhD, publications and research funding experience are advantages.

The job is full-time with home-working arrangements in selected countries, including Zimbabwe, the United Kingdom, Kenya, the United States, Armenia, Costa Rica and Georgia, and candidates must be based where World Vision International is registered to operate. Travel may reach 15% of the time. For U.S.-based roles the salary range is US$102,700 to US$136,930 a year, and it may differ elsewhere.
