World Vision Assistant Project Officer Job 2026: Water and Construction Role
Overview
World Vision is recruiting an Assistant Project Officer (Clerk of Works) for water and construction projects in Marigat, Baringo County, Kenya. The post is a full-time, local fixed-term position under requisition JR52386, and it is open only to local residents of Baringo County.
The officer supports construction supervision and quality control during project implementation. This means checking that works follow approved drawings, technical specifications, contracts and industry standards, inspecting materials delivered to sites, and making sure defects are corrected promptly. The role also includes supervising and verifying testing and commissioning of completed facilities and systems before acceptance, reviewing contractor work plans and schedules, and monitoring compliance with contract obligations. The officer assists with site inspections and measurements that support contractor payment requests, and makes sure contractors follow occupational health and safety rules and environmental and social safeguarding policies.
The job involves regular coordination with local authorities, project staff, contractors and community representatives, and may include support for community sensitization. Reporting duties include daily site inspection notes, monthly technical progress reports covering variations, delays, claims, risks and quality concerns, completion and handover documents, geo-referenced and photographic evidence of progress, and records needed for donor accountability, audits and evaluations.
Requirements
Applicants need a diploma in civil engineering, water engineering, irrigation engineering, agricultural engineering with a water and soil option, or construction engineering. Registration with KETRB or another relevant professional body is an advantage. At least two years of demonstrable experience supervising and inspecting water infrastructure, pumping systems, pipelines or similar civil works is required, along with experience in quality control, measurement and verification of works, and processing contractor payment applications. Experience with donor-funded, NGO, government or community infrastructure, especially rural water supply, irrigation, climate resilience or natural resource management, is highly desirable.
Candidates should understand health and safety standards, safeguards and construction quality assurance, and be able to read engineering drawings, Bills of Quantities, specifications and schedules.
