Work Remotely with the World Food Programme: WFP Hiring a Project Manager for an 11-Month International Consultancy Contract
Overview
The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is hiring a Project Manager in its Digital Services, Information Technology Division, under Job Requisition ID JR126329. The post is a full-time Regular Consultancy Contract (CST) Level II role lasting 11 months. It is associated with WFP's operations in Rome, Italy, but the duty station is remote working. The manager reports to the Project Manager Lead.

What the role involves
The manager leads teams delivering complex technology projects for one or more business units, with WFP stakeholders and external implementing partners. Tasks include acting as the focal point between business partners and technology teams, gathering requirements through a Human-Centred Design approach, estimating time and cost, defining a Minimum Viable Product, setting up governance and communication plans, supporting roll-out and change management, and managing risks, issues, change requests and dependencies. The role also involves tracking progress against baselines, managing stakeholder expectations, following the project management methodology of WFP's Project Management Office, preparing budget estimates, tracking spending against forecasts and supporting purchase orders.
Who can apply
Applicants should hold a university degree in Business Administration, Economics, Information Technology or a related field. Project management education or certification is desirable. At least five years of professional project management experience across the full project cycle is required, with IT project experience particularly desirable.
Requirements
Candidates need knowledge of both Waterfall and Agile methods, experience with project management tools, and an IT background or strong knowledge of software development, data and analytics. Experience managing cross-functional teams and multi-vendor projects, plus strong stakeholder management, communication and budget skills, is expected.
