Overview

WoMin is hiring a Grants and Contracts Officer to strengthen donor accountability, grants administration, partnership contracting and information management. WoMin is an African ecofeminist alliance launched in October 2013. It works with organisations of women, peasants and mining-impacted communities, highlights the effects of extractive industries on peasant and working-class women, and supports women's organising and movement-building. The role is fully remote and can be done from a home base anywhere in Africa.

What the role involves

The officer reports to the Operations and Grants Manager and also works with the Programme Manager and the Movement Support Unit lead. Duties include keeping the donor and grants register, setting quarterly donor reporting schedules, tracking reporting deadlines and donor income, coordinating inputs from programme staff, reviewing and consolidating reports, uploading them to donor platforms and keeping organised electronic records of contracts and grants.

The post also supports proposal development and donor research, including due diligence and identifying potential funders. On the partner side, the officer maintains standard Memoranda of Understanding and partner contracts, tracks renewals, supports compliance, aligns donor grant agreements with sub-granting arrangements and maintains partner and ally databases.

Requirements

WoMin wants at least five years of project or programme administration or coordination experience, preferably in national or regional NGOs. A diploma or bachelor's degree in social sciences, information management or a related field is desirable. Candidates should be organised, detail-oriented and able to work independently and with remote teams, and should know Microsoft Office. Excellent English is required, and another widely spoken African language such as Swahili, French, Portuguese, Arabic or Fulani is highly desirable. The organisation states a preference for a non-South African Black woman from Southern, East, West or Central Africa.
