Overview

The Volleyball Foundation is recruiting a Project Manager for its global programmes. The Foundation uses volleyball to connect, serve and inspire communities while contributing to positive and sustainable social impact. As its international project portfolio grows, it wants an experienced, independent manager to support delivery and strengthen the capacity of implementing partners, many of them small and locally led organisations in resource-constrained settings.

The position is remote and home-based, on a one-year contract at 80 to 100 percent FTE. It reports to the Executive Manager and requires international travel as needed.

The role

The manager oversees a portfolio of projects through their full lifecycle, from development and onboarding to implementation, monitoring, evaluation and closure. Duties include tracking objectives, milestones, budgets, risks and reporting, proposing corrective actions, and helping assess and design new proposals. The role also covers results-based management and monitoring, evaluation and learning: helping partners build results frameworks, indicators, baselines and targets, supporting baseline, midline and endline evaluations, assessing impact across the portfolio and using Social Return on Investment methods progressively. The manager coaches partners, trains them on planning, KPIs, risk and reporting, reviews their reports, consolidates information into portfolio dashboards and visits projects abroad.

Requirements

Applicants need at least 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in international development, social impact, community development, programme or project management, or monitoring, evaluation and learning, including managing several projects and working with grassroots or locally led partners. Experience with results-based management is particularly important. Excellent English is required, along with availability for at least four hours a day between 09:00 and 17:00 CET/CEST. Professional experience with AI tools and a commitment to learning are expected.

Desirable extras include sport-for-development experience, work for an international nonprofit or foundation, knowledge of Theory of Change, SROI or SDG-aligned monitoring, a relevant qualification, additional languages and interest in volleyball.
