The United Nations Technology Bank for the Least Developed Countries (TBLDC) is hiring a Finance and Budget Assistant at G-6 level in Gebze, Turkiye. The Technology Bank was set up under UN General Assembly Resolution 71/251, with its Charter adopted on 23 December 2016, to strengthen science, technology and innovation capacity in least developed countries.
What the role involves
The assistant supports the review and preparation of medium-term plans, prepares narrative documents and tables for staff and non-staff budget proposals, helps managers define resource needs, monitors spending against approved budgets and prepares adjustments, checks requisitions for correct classification and available funds, supports budget performance reports and variance analysis, and monitors the accuracy of financial databases. The role also covers reviewing and preparing payments for third-party and commercial claims, keeping financial records, answering enquiries and drafting correspondence, ensuring compliance with UN financial rules, and preparing data, presentations and reports.
Who can apply
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with seven years of professional experience in finance, budgeting, accounting or administrative services, reduced to five years for those holding a first-level university degree or higher. Desirable experience includes UN or similar organisations, an ERP system, extra-budgetary resources, programme budget documents and at least a year in data analytics. English at UN Level III is required.
Requirements
The appointment is limited to the Technology Bank and does not place successful candidates on the UN Secretariat roster. The initial appointment is one year, subject to funding and mandate. As a locally recruited post, applicants must be legally authorised to work at the duty station, and those selected from outside it pay their own relocation costs. An assessment and a competency-based interview may be required.
