Overview

The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is seeking a Programme Management Senior Analyst to support youth-focused initiatives for the United Nations Youth Office. The post is based in New York, United States, at the IP P-2 / ICS-09 level, on a nine-month staff contract. It sits in the UNOPS New York Portfolio Office and supports the UN Development and Special Initiatives portfolio. The Youth Office works with governments, UN entities, civil society, philanthropy and the private sector to strengthen youth engagement. The initiatives involved cover youth participation, skills development, mental health and wellbeing, climate action and the Sustainable Development Goals.

The analyst supports the design, coordination and delivery of flagship programmes, partnerships and high-level engagements, including events tied to the UN General Assembly, the ECOSOC Youth Forum and the annual UN Youth Townhall. Stakeholder coordination is a major part of the work, including relationships with youth-serving organisations and partners. The analyst also helps implement the UN Youth Compass, including its global community of practice, through stakeholder mapping and engagement frameworks. Advocacy duties cover youth mental health, skills and civic participation, with briefing notes and speaking points for senior leaders, and youth climate engagement with partners linked to UNFCCC, YOUNGO and COP processes. The role also monitors milestones, maintains stakeholder databases, prepares reports and donor updates and documents lessons learned.

Requirements

Applicants need either a Master's degree in international relations, public policy, political science, development studies, social sciences or a related field with at least two years of relevant experience, or a relevant Bachelor's degree with at least four years of experience. Experience should be in programme management, youth affairs, partnerships or policy coordination, including multi-stakeholder initiatives, events and strategic consultations, and writing reports, concept notes or briefing materials. UN youth experience, partnership development with civil society or the private sector, youth climate advocacy and digital engagement are advantages. English fluency is required, and French, Arabic, Spanish, Russian or Mandarin Chinese is desirable.

How to apply

UNOPS does not accept unsolicited resumes and charges no fees. Only shortlisted candidates move to later assessment stages, and background checks apply to successful candidates.
