UNITAR Consultant – Online Learning and Education Developer and Facilitator 2026 | Remote UN Consultancy Opportunity
Overview
The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) is building a roster of consultants for the role of Online Learning and Education Developer and Facilitator within its Peacekeeping Training Programme. The aim is to create a pool of qualified professionals who can support assignments as needs arise. Consultants help develop and facilitate Master's and Post-Graduate Certificate courses at postgraduate level (ISCED Level 7), delivered online with partner higher education institutions.
What you get
The work covers the full learning cycle. Consultants develop course outlines with learning objectives that meet UNITAR's quality assurance requirements and those of partner institutions, and create online course materials around the learning objectives and themes. They prepare formative and summative assessments, grade student work under the applicable frameworks and guidelines, and develop and run synchronous and asynchronous learning tools and activities. They also integrate comments and additional content from UNITAR and its academic partners, which calls for collaboration and willingness to revise.
Requirements
Applicants need at least a Master's degree and a minimum of three years of experience in academia. Experience in online education and with Moodle or another learning management system is required. Fluency in English is required, and knowledge of other UN languages is an asset. Candidates should understand curriculum development, postgraduate course design and assessment methods, and be able to turn complex professional or academic knowledge into clear, engaging digital learning content.
Who can apply
The roster is aimed at experienced academics, online educators, instructional professionals and subject-matter experts.
