Overview

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is recruiting a Junior Programme Coordination Analyst to support the Global Partnership for Effective Development Co-operation (GPEDC). The post is full-time and open to internal and external applicants. Its duty station is Geneva, Switzerland, but the assignment is home based. It is offered under an International Personnel Service Agreement at grade IPSA-8, for an initial six-month contract. The vacancy does not state a salary. The analyst joins the UNDP/Joint Support Team and supports the final year of the GPEDC 2023-2026 Work Programme while helping prepare the 2027-2030 one.

What the role involves

The analyst provides programme, communications and coordination support. This includes drafting and editing concept notes, speaker invitations and biographies, moderation notes and communications materials for GPEDC events, attending meetings, taking minutes and tracking follow-up actions. Communications work covers updating website content, preparing promotional materials, drafting press releases and developing social media toolkits. The analyst also helps with speaker outreach and event coordination for major meetings and forums, prepares stories of progress, blogs and short summaries of government-led Action Dialogues, updates more than 100 country pages on the GPEDC website and supports advocacy around global and regional development forums.

Who can apply

Applicants need a master's degree or equivalent in public administration, public policy, international relations, international development, economics, business administration, social sciences or a related field. Those with a relevant master's do not need work experience. A bachelor's degree holder needs at least two years of relevant experience in programme coordination and management.

Requirements

Candidates should know the development cooperation and effective development cooperation agenda, and be comfortable with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Experience in policy research, drafting, communications, outreach, multi-stakeholder partnerships, conferences and workshops is valuable, as is work in developing-country settings. Fluency in English is required. French or Spanish, familiarity with the GPEDC and prior exposure to UNDP or other UN bodies are advantages. No travel is currently foreseen, and any official travel costs would be covered.

How to apply

Applications go through the official UNDP recruitment system. UNDP charges no fee at any stage of recruitment.
