Overview
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) offers a full-time Communications Internship in Dili, Timor-Leste. The intern works with the Country Office Communications Team, assisting the Country Office Communication Officer with daily communication activities and helping keep UNDP visible across digital platforms and public events.
UNDP has supported national development in Timor-Leste since 1999 through programmes on economic transformation, accountable governance, sustainable development, resilience and gender equality, working with government institutions, civil society and private-sector partners.
What the role involves
The intern creates social media content, graphics and communication materials, supports communication campaigns and messaging, and assists with blogs, stories, newsletters and knowledge products. They help promote key UNDP events, provide logistical and technical support for physical and virtual events, and update media contacts and stakeholder databases.
The placement also includes working with programme teams to communicate project achievements, helping document development projects and learning initiatives, supporting visibility activities that follow UNDP corporate branding guidelines, and helping monitor communication workplans and performance indicators.
Who can apply
At the time of application, candidates must meet one of the following: enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme, in the final year of a bachelor's degree, graduated within the previous year, or enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship programme. Preferred academic backgrounds include international development, social sciences, social policy, law and gender studies.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office is needed. Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Power BI or other design and data visualization tools is an advantage.
