Overview

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is looking for a Communications Assistant to join its office in Malé, Maldives. The post is full-time at level NPSA-4 under the National Personnel Services Agreement. UNDP has partnered with the Maldives for more than four decades, offering policy advice, technical assistance and advocacy on national development priorities.

Working under the Communications Officer, the Communications Assistant helps carry out communication and advocacy strategies that raise awareness of UNDP's work among government institutions, development partners, the media and the public. The role involves close collaboration with programme, project and operations teams.

Duties include supporting the UNDP Maldives website, creating content for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube and Twitter, tracking website and social media analytics, and preparing articles, blogs, press releases, newsletters and publications. The assistant also helps with editorial coordination, photography, videography and graphic design, maintains media and partner databases, supports media monitoring and relations, assists with public events and advocacy campaigns, and provides administrative support to the Communications Unit.

Requirements

Secondary education is the minimum requirement. Candidates with secondary education need four years of relevant experience, while those with a bachelor's degree in a relevant field need at least one year of relevant professional experience.

Desired skills include strong written and verbal communication, content writing, social media and website management, graphic design, basic photography and videography, media relations, event coordination, administrative support and computer literacy including Microsoft Office. Proficiency in English and Dhivehi is required.
