UN Women seeks a Finance and Programme Associate Consultant: Apply for a Home-Based/Remote UN Consultancy in Kenya

UN Women is seeking a Finance and Programme Associate Consultant for its Ending Violence against Women (EVAW) Section. The consultancy is home-based, listed under Kenya, with an initial duration of six months. The consultant supports the ACT to End Violence Against Women and Girls Programme, funded by the European Union, which strengthens women's rights movements, coalition building and advocacy against gender-based violence.
The consultant works under the Programme Management Specialist, with matrix supervision from the Regional Coordinator for EVAW, and collaborates with global and East and Southern Africa teams, the UN Trust Fund ACT Programme team, the Nairobi operations team, the EU Financial Specialist in Brussels and headquarters finance and budget teams.
What the role involves
The role provides finance, programme administration and operational support. It includes checking that transactions meet UN Women financial rules, reviewing documentation, investigating anomalies, preparing financial reports and following up on audit recommendations. The consultant monitors budgets for the global and ESARO components, controls allotments and expenditures, prepares budget revisions, enters data in PRISM and QUANTUM, processes consultant payments, prepares VAT reimbursement documents, may manage petty cash and supports project closure. Administrative duties include work plans, proposals, audits, requisitions, invoices, meetings, workshops, missions and travel arrangements, and guidance to Regional Programme Assistants and civil society partners.
Who can apply
Applicants need completed secondary education and at least six years of progressively responsible finance experience. A certification in accounting and finance, a bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting and the UN Women Accounting and Finance Test are assets. Experience with a modern web-based ERP system, preferably Oracle Cloud, and with Word, Excel and database tools is required. Experience with European Union-funded programmes on ending violence against women or gender equality is desirable.
Requirements
Fluent English is required, with French or Spanish desirable.
