Overview
UN Women is seeking a Program Consultant for the Women's Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF), under its Peace and Security function (job identification 36164). It is a full-time individual consultancy with an initial duration of three months, and can be done home-based or from Geneva, Switzerland. The consultant supports the management and implementation of the WPHF Regular Funding Cycle portfolio, with a geographic focus on Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Palestine, Syria, Yemen, Burkina Faso, Chad and Niger. The consultant works under the Head of the WPHF Secretariat and the direct supervision of the Program Coordinator for the Regular Funding Cycle.
WPHF is a partnership of the United Nations, Member States and civil society that supports women-led and women's rights organizations working on peace and humanitarian response. It has supported more than 1,500 civil society organizations across more than 40 countries.
What you get
The work covers funding allocation, grant implementation, monitoring and reporting. The consultant helps coordinate Calls for Proposals with country offices, organizes information sessions, supports National Steering Committees, reviews and evaluates proposals and supports longlisting and shortlisting. They give technical assistance to Participating UN Organizations implementing WPHF-funded programmes, support work on forced displacement, and contribute to annual workplans, portfolio planning and funding forecasts.
The consultant also maintains tracking systems for implementation progress, reporting milestones, financial delivery and agreed actions, tracks budget implementation and risks across assigned countries, and follows up with partner organizations and country offices. Reporting duties include drafting reports on monitoring missions, country results and portfolio performance, plus inputs to WPHF and donor reports. The role also contributes to advocacy, knowledge building, partnerships and resource mobilization through briefs, project summaries, presentations and other knowledge products.
Requirements
English and Arabic are required, and French is desired. Experience in programme or grant management, monitoring and evaluation, donor reporting, humanitarian programming, peacebuilding or gender-related initiatives is relevant, as are strong writing skills and knowledge of Results Based Management.
