Overview
The United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH) is recruiting a Staff Assistant at the General Service G-6 level on a temporary basis in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The post supports the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) and reports directly to the Chief of Staff.
BINUH was established by the UN Security Council to support political stability, democratic governance, the rule of law, national dialogue and human rights protection in Haiti, working with national institutions and international partners.
What the role involves
The assistant helps the Chief of Staff manage office operations and priorities, coordinates workflows and monitors implementation of management decisions. Daily duties include managing calendars, appointments and official schedules, preparing reports and administrative documents, and handling confidential correspondence and information.
The assistant also organizes official meetings, conferences and receptions, coordinates travel, visas, accommodation and logistics for visiting delegations, and manages records, archives and filing systems. Further tasks include supervising office support staff and reviewing their work, processing leave records, travel requests and procurement documentation, and maintaining internal databases and reports.
Requirements
Applicants need a high school diploma or equivalent and at least seven years of progressively responsible experience in administrative services or a related field. Previous work with a United Nations entity is desirable, and knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning business process software is an advantage.
