Overview

TIMBY (This Is My Backyard) is looking for a Temp Community Manager to join its multidisciplinary team. TIMBY builds technology that lets organisations working on environmental governance, human rights and other socially beneficial projects collect, organise, analyse and share information from the field. Its tools are used in low-resource settings, especially in sub-Saharan Africa and South America, and increasingly in Asia and North America.

The contract is part time and remote, open worldwide, though Montreal-based candidates are preferred. It initially covers a leave for the Global Project Manager, at roughly half-time during October, and may continue on an ad-hoc or part-time basis if it goes well. The start date is September 28, 2026.

The manager works with community, organisational and corporate users, helping them structure monitoring projects in the software. Tasks include running training workshops, giving technical support, demonstrating the product to prospective clients, passing feedback on new features to the Product Manager and developers, spotting software bugs, managing communications, improving training materials and supporting business development. International travel may be needed to work with partners in the field.

Who can apply

Applicants should hold an undergraduate or master's degree in a related field, communicate well with people of different cultures and languages, and work with minimal guidance. They must be comfortable working remotely. Proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese is a key requirement, other languages are an advantage, and experience in a developing country, technology products or quality assurance is helpful. People without a computer science background can be considered if they show strong interest in technology.

What you get

Pay is hourly or for an agreed number of hours per month, depending on experience, with a flexible schedule.

How to apply

Candidates submit a cover letter, resume and references through the application portal, using the cover letter to show relevant experience, communication skills, interest in technology and understanding of social or environmental justice work.
