Software Engineer - New Grad

Overview

Scale AI, which develops reliable AI systems and supplies high-quality data and full-stack technology to leading AI model builders, enterprises and governments, is hiring a New Grad Software Engineer in London through its University programme. The engineer is expected to own meaningful customer-facing work from the start, shipping products, talking directly to customers and iterating quickly. The role is linked to Scale's Global Public Sector team, which builds custom AI applications for citizens, generates training data for national language models and offers upskilling and advisory services.

What you will do

Example projects include building reinforcement learning and post-training data pipelines, developing evaluation infrastructure that measures model reliability, shipping agentic AI applications along with the tooling to observe and test them, building fraud-detection systems that protect the contributor base, using models to estimate task and contributor quality, devising matching algorithms between contributors and customers, creating interface tooling for more than 100,000 contributors, developing AI infrastructure products for exploring data, building a customer service retrieval application that handles thousands of questions a day and integrating a churn prediction model into a retention system.

Who can apply

Applicants should graduate in Fall 2026 or Spring 2027 with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field such as computer science, EECS, computer engineering or statistics.

Requirements

The employer asks for product engineering experience, such as building full-stack web apps, integrating APIs and services, talking to customers and iterating on what to build, along with previous software engineering internship experience and a record of shipping high-quality features at scale. Experience building systems that process large volumes of data, and with Python, TypeScript, React or MongoDB, is expected. Hands-on experience with LLMs, evaluations or agentic systems, open-source contributions and shipped side projects are a plus.
