Overview

Scale AI, which develops reliable AI systems and provides high-quality data and full-stack technology to leading AI model builders, enterprises and governments, is offering a Software Engineering internship in London for summer 2027 through its University programme. The company says interns own real, shipped work on the same roadmaps as full-time engineers, with mentorship, and that many return as full-time employees. The work is linked to Scale's Global Public Sector team, which builds custom AI applications for citizens, generates training data for national language models and offers upskilling and advisory services.

What you will do

Example projects include building reinforcement learning and post-training data pipelines for frontier model development, developing evaluation infrastructure that measures model reliability, shipping agentic AI applications with tooling that makes them observable, testable and safe, building fraud-detection systems that protect the contributor base, using models to estimate task and contributor quality, devising matching algorithms that pair contributors with customers, creating interface tooling for more than 100,000 contributors completing billions of tasks, and developing AI infrastructure products to visualise, query and explore data.

Who can apply

Applicants should graduate in Fall 2027 or Spring 2028 with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field such as computer science, EECS, computer engineering or statistics, and be available for a summer 2027 internship with a May or June start.

Requirements

The employer asks for product engineering experience, such as building full-stack web apps, integrating APIs and services, talking to customers and iterating, plus previous software engineering internship experience, a record of shipping high-quality features, experience with systems that process large volumes of data, and experience with Python, TypeScript, React or MongoDB. Hands-on work with LLMs, evaluations or agentic systems, open-source contributions and shipped side projects are a plus.

How to apply

Candidates cannot be reconsidered for the same role within 90 days of an earlier evaluation.
