Overview

Save the Children International is hiring a Senior Officer, Program Operations to support programme operations, performance, risk management, organisational learning and strategic initiatives across its international programmes. The post is full-time and fixed-term for 12 months, with hybrid and remote working options. It has a global remit and can be based in any approved Save the Children International office location where the organisation is able to hire. The officer supports the Global Programme Operations and Programme Risk, Delivery and Performance functions, acting as a connector between teams and stakeholders.

What the role involves

About 40 percent of the work is coordinating planning, delivery, monitoring and reporting, including annual workplans, performance indicators, risks, dashboards and change activities. Another 30 percent covers programme risk, delivery and performance, such as collecting and analysing risk information, consolidating action plans and reporting to senior leadership. Twenty percent goes to learning, knowledge management and capacity strengthening, including communities of practice and knowledge platforms. The final 10 percent is communications and leadership support, such as newsletters, workshops and planning sessions.

Who can apply

Save the Children looks for experience supporting complex projects or operational initiatives in an international organisation, with strong project management, stakeholder coordination, planning and reporting skills. Knowledge of performance management, risk management or continuous improvement is wanted, as are analytical ability and facilitation skills. NGO or development experience is desirable but not essential.

Requirements

Applicants should hold a Bachelor's degree in a field such as international development, business administration, project management, public administration, organisational development, risk management, management or social sciences, though equivalent experience may be considered. Professional fluency in English is required. Certifications such as PRINCE2, PMP, Agile or MSP, training in risk or change management, experience with Power BI and SharePoint, and French, Spanish or Arabic are desirable.
