Overview

Restless Development Uganda is hiring a Programme Officer for Organisational Development and Advocacy, based in Kampala. The post is a two-year fixed-term contract expected to begin in October 2026 and is contingent on project funding. Restless Development Uganda is a youth-led development agency working in Karamoja, West Nile, Eastern, Central and Western Uganda, and it coordinates the Uganda Youth Collective, a national platform of more than 600 youth-led organisations.

The officer will contribute to the organisation's youth employment portfolio, which helps young people reach dignified work, entrepreneurship and inclusive financial services across 13 districts, with particular attention to young women, refugees and young people with disabilities.

What the role involves

Reporting to the Programme Coordinator, the officer supports organisational strengthening and community advocacy, with regular domestic and occasional international travel. Duties include running capacity assessments for Youth-Led Organisations, supporting their improvement plans and governance systems, coordinating advocacy on employment, entrepreneurship and financial inclusion, organising community dialogues and forums, tracking activities and outcomes, writing reports and case studies, upholding safeguarding standards, and supporting budgeting and financial reporting.

Who can apply

Applicants need a bachelor's degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Organisational Development, Public Administration, Community Development, Political Science or a related field, with one to two years of experience in organisational development, capacity building, advocacy or community engagement in Uganda. Experience with youth-led or community-based organisations, strong facilitation and mentoring skills and excellent English are required. Donor-funded programme experience, civic engagement work and knowledge of Uganda's civil society landscape are desirable.

What you get

The gross annual salary is UGX 47,084,760.
