Research Fellowship at Partners for Public Good: Remote Opportunity | $50 Per Hour | Apply by September 28, 2026
Overview
Partners for Public Good (PPG) is accepting applications for a Research Fellowship for early-career researchers interested in improving government effectiveness through evidence-based research. The fellowship is remote and part time, lasts about six months and is project based. Fellows work 15 to 25 hours per week under the guidance of PPG staff, alongside two other fellows, with mentorship, professional development and research team meetings. A desired start date is October 2026.
Fellows choose from five research topics: public procurement through municipal data; the compliance web around local governments; emerging technology, including AI, and government operations; innovative public purchasing such as cooperative purchasing; and building local capacity for stormwater management. Each fellow completes two to three major deliverables, which may include a literature review, a dataset from public information or primary research, survey or interview instruments, draft publications, policy briefs or conference submissions.
What you get
Fellows are paid 50 dollars per hour, with benefits as required by state or local law. Work is flexible within the United States, but fellows need access to a major U.S. airport because one in-person research retreat is required.
Who can apply
The fellowship suits graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, early-career faculty and research or policy professionals. Applicants may be affiliated with a university, think tank, nonprofit or research institution, or may have no affiliation if they can meet the time and deliverable requirements. Strong candidates show research ability, analytical thinking and interest in government effectiveness.
How to apply
Applicants submit a resume or CV of no more than two pages, a letter of interest and a work sample, such as a published or under-review publication. The letter should name the one or two preferred projects, explain qualifications and describe the proposed approach, identifying a top choice if two are listed.
Key dates
The deadline is September 28, 2026, with rolling review.
