Overview

Queen's University Belfast is offering a part-time position for a Research Assistant within the School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. The role involves contributing to an Invest NI Proof of Concept project centered on developing advanced antenna and radio frequency interconnect technologies for sub-terahertz applications. The work aims to create compact, high-performance antenna and interconnect solutions intended for next-generation high-frequency sensing and radar systems. Responsibilities include electromagnetic design, simulation, optimisation, fabrication, and experimental characterisation of antennas and radio frequency interconnect structures operating at D-band frequencies. The position offers practical experience in advanced antenna design, high-frequency measurements, and technology development geared toward producing an industrial demonstrator. This is a fixed-term contract lasting for 12 months or until 31 December 2027, whichever comes sooner, with potential for renewal or permanence depending on funding availability.
