The role is tied to a UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship directed by Dr Elisabetta Arca and will be located in the Department of Physics and the Stephenson Institute for Renewable Energy. The successful candidate will work on creating advanced operando X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy methodologies to examine solid-liquid interfaces in lithium-ion batteries under operational conditions. The project begins with silicon anodes as a case study to investigate interface and interphase dynamics at the atomic and molecular level, and it will involve occasional national and international travel. The appointment runs until November 2029.
Who can apply
Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in disciplines such as Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or Engineering. Individuals who are still awaiting the official awarding of their PhD may also apply and will initially be appointed at Grade 6, spine point 30, with a salary adjustment to Grade 7 upon written confirmation of the degree award.
