Overview

The Department of Sociology and Social Policy at Lingnan University in Hong Kong is recruiting a Postdoctoral Fellow connected to its MSocSc Programme in Sociology and Data Analytics (MSoDA). Lingnan is one of the eight publicly funded higher education institutions in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and has the longest established tradition among them. The department brings together scholars with international research experience, has received the university's Research Excellence Award and Teaching Excellence Awards, and hosts programmes in comparative social policy and in sociology and data analytics, as well as attracting MPhil and PhD students from around the world.

The appointee will teach some courses on the MSoDA programme, including Data Analytics for Social Research, Applied Analytical Statistics for Social Scientists, Machine Learning with Social Data and Social Networks Analysis. They will also actively support the coordination and development of teaching programmes and the research of faculty members in sociology and social policy. The fellow is expected to be committed to academic excellence, produce high-quality research and publications, and apply for grants from the Research Grants Council, other local or overseas competitive funds and fellowship schemes.
