Overview
The Platform for Peace and Humanity (PPH) is seeking a volunteer Project Coordinator for Peace Education to support its Mediterranean Programme. PPH promotes sustainable international peace, social justice and human development through research, policy analysis, advocacy and stakeholder mobilisation. Peace education is a core area of the Mediterranean Programme, and the volunteer helps design and carry out projects that bring peacebuilding principles into the education and youth sectors, informed by local needs and the region's socio-political and human rights context.
The role
Duties combine research, programme development, stakeholder engagement and administration. The coordinator researches and analyses sustainable peace education initiatives and policy frameworks across the Mediterranean region and may contribute to Programme publications. They also reach out to civil society organisations, universities, international organisations, experts and donors, identify partnerships and funding opportunities, work with the Programme Director on resource mobilisation, and help design and support the implementation of projects in line with approved donor proposals and strategies.
Who can apply
Applicants need a university degree in peace studies, education, political science, human rights or a related field, with demonstrated research or project coordination experience. Five to seven years of professional experience in peace education or peacebuilding is required, along with project management skills including budget development and experience in stakeholder engagement and resource mobilisation.
Requirements
Candidates should be able to produce high-quality, policy-oriented content based on scientific sources, communicate strongly in English and work comfortably in multicultural settings. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including SharePoint and Teams, and Google Workspace is required. Fluency in French or Arabic and professional networks in the Mediterranean region are desirable.

The post is home-based, with about 5 to 10 hours a week on flexible hours, starting as soon as possible, with a minimum commitment of 12 months including a one-month probationary period.
