Overview
Planeterra is a nonprofit organisation that uses tourism to support communities, protect natural environments and celebrate local culture. It is hiring a Coordinator, Climate & Biodiversity for its global team. The position is fully remote and offered as a one-year renewable independent contract, requiring full-time availability five days per week.
The coordinator will work closely with the Director, Climate & Biodiversity, supporting several areas of work: community tree-growing partnerships, the Ocean Health Fund, Nature Positive strategy implementation, regional collaboration, thought leadership and carbon footprint tracking.
What you get
The salary benchmark is the CAD equivalent of $55,000 to $65,000 per year, adjusted for the candidate's location, cost of living and local purchasing power. Occasional regional and international travel may be required.

Applicants must be based in a time zone between UTC-5 and UTC+3. They need a suitable home-working environment, fast and reliable internet, and flexibility to join occasional meetings or events outside normal hours.
Requirements
Candidates should have a genuine interest in sustainability, climate action, biodiversity and community development, plus experience in programme coordination, project administration or a similar support role. Nonprofit, conservation or tourism experience is an advantage. Strong written and spoken English, organisational skills and attention to detail are required.
Experience with contracts, grants or financial disbursements is useful, as is familiarity with CRM systems, project management platforms, Google Workspace or Microsoft Office, and tools such as Canva. Knowledge of tourism, climate change or Nature Positive approaches is also helpful.
Responsibilities
On the tree-growing programme, the coordinator tracks partner reporting, helps coordinate fund disbursements, administers partner agreements, organises verification trips and supports invoicing. Under the Ocean Health Fund, the role collects beneficiary reports, tracks disbursements and helps prepare impact reports for funders.
The post also prepares research for regional strategy meetings, supports workshops, helps with conference and webinar submissions, blogs and articles, and maintains the carbon tracking tool by collecting and quality-checking data from teams.
