Plan International is an independent humanitarian and development organization that has advanced children's rights and gender equality for more than 85 years and works in over 80 countries. The post supports its aim of becoming a recognized voice on climate justice and girls-centred sustainable development. It sits in the Global Affairs Policy, Advocacy & Strategic Partnerships Team and has no line management duties.

Who can apply

The role is location-flexible. It is open to people who already have the legal right to live and work in a country where Plan International has an employing office, including Zimbabwe, Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, the United Kingdom, the United States and more than 70 other countries. The contract is permanent or fixed-term, depending on the employing office.

Requirements

Other tasks include maintaining a partnership pipeline with engagement records and funding timelines, monitoring climate policy and development finance trends, preparing presentations and talking points for external events, working with regional hubs and country offices, and providing surge support when needed.

Essential requirements are knowledge of climate change, sustainable livelihoods and development finance, an understanding of the Paris Agreement, UNFCCC and the Sustainable Development Goals, strong analytical and policy research skills, excellent writing, the ability to synthesize complex information, experience coordinating projects and managing databases, and good relationship-building skills. Desirable experience includes work in an international NGO, multilateral agency or research institution, climate justice or climate finance programming, gender equality and girls' rights in climate and livelihood contexts, and partnership development and donor proposal writing.
