Overview

OpenAI is hiring a People Research Scientist for its People team in California, working with the People Analytics team. It is a full-time, high-impact individual contributor role that applies research design, experimentation, measurement science and analytics to workforce strategy, organizational effectiveness and employee experience, helping leaders make evidence-based talent decisions. The post is based in San Francisco or Mountain View and may need occasional travel to the San Francisco office.

What you get

Base salary is USD 198,000 to 220,000 depending on experience. Requirements

The scientist designs research and evaluation frameworks for recruiting, talent development and organizational programmes, uses statistical modelling, machine learning and causal inference to assess impact, evaluates employee experience and management programmes, works with People Operations and data engineering on data quality, builds scalable people science infrastructure, automated workflows and reusable datasets, writes research playbooks, and presents executive-ready recommendations.

Candidates need expertise in research design, experimentation and measurement, causal inference, statistical modelling and machine learning, advanced Python or R and strong SQL, work with large and unstructured data, psychometrics and survey methods, validation studies, clear communication to technical and non-technical audiences, and an understanding of privacy, fairness and ethics with sensitive employee data. Methods named include structural equation and multilevel modelling, randomized experiments, A/B tests and quasi-experimental designs. An advanced degree in industrial-organizational or quantitative psychology, organizational behavior, behavioral economics, statistics, economics or data science is preferred, as is experience evaluating AI-assisted workflows.
