Nutrition International is offering a senior leadership employment opportunity for a Project Director specializing in preconception nutrition and care based in New Delhi, India. This major initiative is scheduled to run from May 2026 to April 2031 and aims to improve maternal and birth outcomes by reaching couples of reproductive age with nutrition interventions, health services, and counselling before pregnancy. The role involves leading implementation, managing partnerships, overseeing financial resources, guiding a multidisciplinary team, and working closely with national and state governments, donors, research institutions, and implementing organizations.

Who can apply

Applicants must hold a PhD or MD from a recognized university in nutrition, public health, reproductive health, or a related discipline. Candidates are required to have 10 to 12 years of relevant professional experience with international NGOs, UN agencies, or comparable organizations working in public health, reproductive health, or nutrition programs, including at least five years in senior-level project management. Additional required qualifications include strong experience in generating evidence and learning from projects, integrating findings into health systems, managing complex multisectoral programs, collaborating with government institutions, and handling budgeting, financial reporting, resource oversight, and donor compliance.

Requirements

The position requires regular national travel to project districts in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra. The Project Director will oversee three to four direct or associated reporting roles spanning technical, program, monitoring, and finance functions, and will report directly to the Country Director in India.
