Overview

The Natural Resource Governance Institute (NRGI) is seeking a Compliance Lead for its Operations team to oversee donor compliance, enterprise risk management, procurement, contracting and organisational policies. The full-time job is remote from NRGI-registered countries, with a preference for candidates in the Global South. It reports to the Chief Operating Officer and works with the Finance Director, HR Lead, regional directors, country managers and legal counsel. NRGI operates through about nine legal entities in 20 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas.

What you will do

The Compliance Lead owns the enterprise risk management framework, including risk registers, assessments and mitigation. Other duties include donor compliance across grants and contracts, covering cost eligibility, reporting, prior approvals, audit readiness, close-out and partner and sub-grantee compliance, turning complex funder rules into practical guidance, developing policies and internal controls with the Finance Director, maintaining anti-fraud, anti-bribery, sanctions screening and whistleblowing procedures, supporting data protection compliance, ensuring transparent and compliant procurement, monitoring legal and statutory compliance in country operations, coordinating audits and reviews and providing training. The role manages the Finance and Compliance Manager.

Requirements

NRGI wants significant experience in donor compliance and enterprise risk management, preferably in an international organisation or NGO, with strong knowledge of major funder rules and grant and sub-grant management, plus experience in procurement, contracting, internal controls and audits. Legal training is strongly preferred. Strong policy-writing, attention to detail, communication and staff management are required, as is professional English. French or Spanish is an advantage. The listing states a Master's degree is required, while the detailed section mentions a bachelor's in finance, accounting or business administration with an MBA or MSc Finance highly desirable, and equivalent experience may be considered.

What you get

Starting salary varies by country, for example US$119,876 in the United States, 79,904 pounds in the United Kingdom, US$91,901 in Nigeria, US$86,121 in Uganda, US$73,690 in Colombia and US$71,161 in Ghana. Benefits include health insurance, a 10 percent employer pension contribution, extensive leave and two weeks of annual office closure.

Submit a CV and cover letter in English, creating an account if applying for the first time. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and only shortlisted candidates are contacted.
