Overview

Médecins Sans Frontières is recruiting Mental Health Activity Managers to support humanitarian medical projects serving vulnerable populations. This includes delivering mental health and psychosocial support in emergency settings, such as responses to the ongoing Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The expected commitment is three to six months, with assignments for the Ebola response lasting approximately three months.

Who can apply

The role is open to experienced mental health professionals, including qualified psychologists and psychiatrists. Female applicants are strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants must hold a master’s degree or equivalent in psychology with relevant clinical training, alongside a specialisation in clinical psychology, counselling, psychotherapy, psychopathology or a related discipline. A valid and up-to-date professional licence or authorisation to practise is required, along with formal clinical training that includes supervised clinical hours and experience providing face-to-face clinical care. Candidates need at least two years of professional experience after completing their master’s degree, working with adults and using behavioural techniques, counselling or related approaches, including recent clinical experience of at least six months during the previous 24 months. Candidates must also demonstrate experience supporting vulnerable populations in intercultural settings, the ability to supervise others, and proficiency in English at a minimum level of B1. Knowledge of standard Arabic or French is considered an advantage.

What you get

Selected candidates receive a salary that depends on their seniority and relevant professional experience. Benefits include coverage of mission-related expenses such as transport, visas, accommodation and vaccinations, as well as health insurance, repatriation coverage and retirement benefits. The organisation also provides opportunities for training, professional support and career development.

How to apply

Interested candidates must submit a complete application through the official Médecins Sans Frontières recruitment page, ensuring that their CV, clinical qualifications, professional authorisation and relevant experience are clearly presented.
