Overview

Helsing is seeking a Junior Customs Manager to help build and shape its customs function from the ground up within the Legal department. The position is based in Munich, Germany, with options for remote work during pregnancy. As a member of the team, the role involves managing import and export operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and developing internal processes and guidelines while working alongside export control, supply chain, procurement, logistics, and finance functions.

Requirements

Applicants must have completed vocational training as a freight forwarding and logistics specialist or hold a degree in Business Administration or Logistics, accompanied by an additional qualification in customs such as a Certified Customs Specialist or Certificate in Customs Management. Candidates should possess three to five years of professional experience in customs, ideally within an industrial setting, at a customs broker, or in freight forwarding.

The role requires sound knowledge of the Union Customs Code, tariff classification, customs valuation, the origin of goods and preferences, and customs procedures, alongside experience with Authorized Economic Operator standards, customs audits, and supplier declarations. Additional prerequisites include strong assertiveness, the ability to adapt to dynamic environments, an independent and solution-oriented working style, a willingness to take on future leadership responsibilities, and fluent written and spoken proficiency in both German and English. Experience with ATLAS, AES, SAP GTS, or similar systems, as well as knowledge of export control regulations, is considered advantageous.

What you get
