Overview

The Junior Complaints & Compliance Specialist position is offered by SumUp within the Customer Support department. The role is based at the Sofia office in Bulgaria, operating on an office-first, full-time schedule. The team handles merchant complaints related to payment processing, ensuring fair and compliant resolutions for issues such as delayed payouts and chargebacks.

What you get

The position includes 25 days of paid leave, plus an additional day per year of service up to 35 days, alongside public holidays and special leave options. Employees receive a dedicated annual learning and development budget of €2000 and 10 paid days of educational leave for conferences or further education. Additional benefits comprise extra health insurance, life insurance, a tax-free food voucher program, flexibility via the Re:Benefits platform, and free shuttle buses to the Joliot-Curie metro station. Staff also have access to on-site yoga, a co-sponsored Multisport card, a one-month sabbatical after three years of service, and a referral bonus program.

Requirements

Applicants need a foundational understanding of payment processing, including authorisations, settlements, payouts, and basic chargebacks. Candidates must be comfortable working with a CRM or ticketing system, following standard operating procedures, and maintaining audit-ready documentation. Strong written communication skills are required to draft clear responses under regulatory constraints, along with the ability to remain structured and calm under pressure while prioritizing cases against strict deadlines. Fluency in both English and German is necessary for communicating with merchants and stakeholders.

How to apply

Candidates who do not meet every single listed criterion are still encouraged to apply, as the criteria serve as a guide rather than a strict 100 percent requirement.
