Overview

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is recruiting an ERT Supply Chain Coordinator for its Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Global Supply Chain function. The role supports emergency humanitarian operations for people affected by conflict, displacement and natural disasters, providing technical direction on procurement, warehousing and inventory, fleet and logistics, and medical and pharmaceutical supply chains. When not deployed, the coordinator reports to the Director, Emergency and Health Supply Chain. During deployments they work under the Emergency Response Director or a designated country or regional emergency lead.

This is a global roving emergency position. ERT staff may be deployed for up to 65% of their time and must be able to reach an emergency site within 72 hours of notification.

Who can apply

IRC wants experienced supply chain professionals with humanitarian and leadership backgrounds. Applicants should hold an advanced degree and have about 3 to 6 years or more of progressive supply chain experience, or an equivalent mix of education and experience, including developing and managing supply chain or logistics functions in an international NGO, preferably in emergency or conflict settings. Experience should span procurement and contracting, logistics and fleet management, inventory and warehousing, property and asset management, planning and strategy, medical and pharmaceutical logistics, budgeting, market analysis and emergency operations. Leading multicultural, multidisciplinary teams and strong mentoring, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills are also expected.

Requirements

Fluency in written and spoken French and English is mandatory, and Arabic or Spanish is an advantage. Applicants must be licensed and able to drive manual-transmission 4WD vehicles.

Duties include emergency procurement planning, sourcing strategy, procurement compliance, supplier management, inventory, warehousing, fleet and asset management, and logistics coordination. The coordinator ensures compliance with IRC policies and donor requirements, including documentation, emergency procurement waivers, supplier records and segregation of duties. Knowledge of procuring, storing, transporting and distributing pharmaceuticals and medical equipment, including quality assurance and cold chain, is required, and the role includes mentoring and training supply chain staff.
