Overview

The International Rescue Committee is recruiting an Administrative and Department Manager for its Crisis Response, Recovery, and Development Department in New York. The role is full time and hybrid, reports to the Senior Director, Strategy and Performance, and carries a salary range of $68,000 to $74,000 per year. The department houses country programmes and includes Program Delivery, Technical Excellence, Awards Management and Emergencies teams. The IRC works in more than 40 countries.

The manager provides core administrative support to the Senior Vice President of the department and coordinates administrative work across it. Duties include managing calendars and meetings, supporting speaking engagements, travel, visas and media requests, and organizing headquarters meetings. The manager also maintains trackers for senior management and Executive Board travel and leave, assists with expense reconciliations and approvals, organizes files and shared folders, and updates organizational charts, distribution lists and emergency contacts. Special projects can include Core Humanitarian Standards audits, workshops, conferences and workplace events, along with opportunities to improve administrative processes.

Requirements

Applicants need a bachelor's degree, associate's degree or equivalent, plus two to three years of professional administrative experience. Strong organizational skills, flexibility, a proactive and service-oriented approach, and sound judgment with confidential information are essential. Candidates should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to work across departments in a multicultural organization, and strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. French, Arabic, Spanish or other relevant languages are an advantage.
