Overview

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is recruiting a Project Assistant (Child Protection) for its Country Office in Athens, Greece. The post is on a special short-term ungraded contract, grade UG, in the General Service category, job identification 22463. The initial contract runs for one month and may extend up to nine months.

The role supports a project, funded through Greece's National Development Program 2026-2030, that strengthens protection systems for unaccompanied migrant children and vulnerable female applicants and beneficiaries of international protection. Part of the work involves supporting implementing partners and Emergency Accommodation Facilities that provide housing and care for unaccompanied children. The assistant works under the overall supervision of the Deputy Chief of Mission and the direct supervision of the National Cluster Coordinator for Unaccompanied Migrant Children.

What you get

The assistant provides administrative and clerical support to implementing partners, compiles and summarizes project information for monitoring and reporting, and reviews narrative reports from partners. They also help prepare reports for the Ministry of Migration and Asylum and support coordination between IOM units, partners and outside stakeholders. Further tasks include monitoring the direct operation of an Emergency Accommodation Facility and advising field staff on compliance with relevant legislation, preparing status reports, briefing notes, statistical tables, graphics and presentations, carrying out quality checks on implementing partners against donor child protection requirements, and helping develop Standard Operating Procedures for child protection activities.

Who can apply

Greek and English are both required. Backgrounds in social sciences, international relations, development studies, migration studies, human rights, law or related fields are relevant, as is experience with migrants, refugees, children or humanitarian projects. The work calls for accuracy, organization and clear writing.
