Overview

The International Domestic Workers Federation (IDWF) is hiring a Global Accounting Officer for a full-time, home-based position covering a six-month maternity leave. The contract runs from 1 November 2026 to 31 May 2027, at about 40 hours per week. The officer joins the Finance and Administrative Team, reports to the Finance Manager and works with finance, administration, project and regional teams, affiliates and colleagues in different countries.

The officer reviews expense claims from staff and affiliates, checks calculations and documentation and makes sure approved reimbursements are paid promptly. They check online payment instructions for validity, approval and documentation, and coordinate approvals through the e-banking system. They also track financial reports from affiliates and regional teams, chase overdue reports, compare spending with budgets and agreements, flag questionable expenses, missing documents, overspending or savings, and resolve issues with project and regional teams. Other tasks include supporting month-end closing, preparing internal and funder financial reports, checking compliance with donor requirements, keeping vouchers and records filed, and sometimes supporting affiliate financial training or event reimbursements.

Requirements

Applicants need a Bachelor's degree in Financial Accounting, Business Administration or a related field, with a master's degree an advantage. At least six years of hands-on accounting experience, strong numerical skills and exceptional attention to detail are expected. Proficiency in Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel is needed, along with experience of accounting platforms such as MYOB and SAGE. NGO or trade union experience is an advantage. Strong written and spoken English and the ability to work respectfully across cultures are important. Candidates must have their own computer, software and reliable internet, and immediate availability may help.
